Gina Domanig, Chair
Gina Domanig

Gina became Chair of the Board of Directors in May 2011 and is a Non-Executive Director of Pelamis.

Gina is the Managing Partner of Emerald Technology Ventures, formerly SAM Private Equity which was spun out of SAM Sustainable Asset Management in 2007. Upon joining SAM in 2000, she founded the private equity business and established SAM Private Equity as the largest European cleantech venture capital fund and the only such fund with a transatlantic strategy. Gina serves on the board of Identec Solutions, Inge and Ormecon.

Gina has over 20 years of international business experience including banking, M&A, strategic development, and venture capital. Prior to that, she was senior vice president at Sulzer, a Swiss multinational, responsible for strategic planning and M&A. During her ten year tenure, she built up a team which completed 45 transactions including acquisitions, divestitures, IPOs and JVs. Gina holds MBA degrees from Thunderbird in Arizona and ESADE in Barcelona and is fluent in English, German and Spanish.

Per Hornung Pedersen, Chief Executive Officer

Per Hornung PedersenAfter starting his career at Arthur Andersen, Per spent 19 years in various Managerial and Executive positions primarily in listed companies in the Construction, Packaging and Telecom Industry. In 2000 he joined the wind power industry as CFO in NEG Micon/Vestas, then moved to Indian wind power company Suzlon in 2004. During the three years spent at Suzlon, Per took the company from a strong player in India to no 6 globally in the industry. Per was appointed CEO of Repower in 2007, and in this role doubled turnover to 1.3 billion Euros.

Per is active in a number of Supervisory Boards as well as acting as an Industry Advisor to a number of PE funds, benefitting from his 11 years of executive experience in the global wind business. Per is also Advisory Director at MerSan Capital Holdings, New York and Senior Advisor to MCF Corporate Finance, Hamburg. In addition to his long experience in Business Strategy and Business Development within the wind industry and renewable sector, Per brings many years of international experience to Pelamis Wave Power.

Per holds a B.Sc. in Finance and Accounting as well as an MBA.

Richard Yemm, Director and Founder
Richard Yemm

From a background in the wind industry, Richard founded Pelamis Wave Power in 1998 and has since then made a long-standing and profound contribution to the renewables industry and wave energy in particular.

Richard has spent the last 14 years developing and commercialising the Pelamis machine from the drawing board to the board room. Under his leadership, Pelamis achieved the first generation electricity to the grid from offshore waves, Scotland’s first export order for wave energy technology, and the UK’s first sales for wave energy converters to utility companies.

Richard graduated with a first class BSc Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from Edinburgh University in 1989, and was awarded a PhD in 1993. 

In December 2011 Richard was recognised for his 'Outstanding Contribution' to the renewables industry by Scottish Renewables.

Derrik Robb, Operations Director
Derrik Robb

Derrik joined Pelamis Wave Power in January 2008 and is responsible for the execution and delivery of Pelamis projects and operations. He draws on a broad range of experience in project execution and engineering in the energy sector worldwide including power projects in the Middle East and petrochemical plants and associated utilities in the USA and Indonesia.

Derrik started his career in an offshore corrosion engineering role and then progressed through project and functional department management roles at Stone and Webster (the engineering procurement and construction contractor) delivering projects to global operators. Derrik more recently applied his project management skills, gained in a contracting environment, to the successful roll out of networks in the telecommunications industry as well as the management of operational facilities.

Ross Henderson, Technology Director 

Ross HendersonRoss joined Pelamis Wave Power in 1999 and is now the company’s Technology Director. Ross has been involved in all aspects of Pelamis design, development, and operation from the conceptual stage and has more recently played a leading role in the rapid design and development programme for the P2 Pelamis. He continues to develop the Pelamis control algorithms and leads the technology development programme to enable continuing reduction in cost of energy.

Ross graduated with a first class master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Edinburgh.

Charles Vaslet, Non-Executive Director

Charles VasletCharles Vaslet is a Partner with Emerald Technology Ventures and sits on the Board of Pelamis Wave Power as a Non-Executive Director. His focus at Emerald is on renewable energy, energy resources and energy conversion technology investments within the clean technology sector. Charles has previously held positions at ABB Equity Ventures and National Power PLC. He also spearheads the European Energy Venture Fair, the preeminent European cleantech investor conference.

Charles graduated with a Bachelor degree with Honours in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Leeds and a Master of Business Administration from Henley Management College.

Stuart Deed, Non-Executive Director

Stuart DeedStuart has been appointed to the Board of Pelamis to represent the Scottish Investment Bank. Stuart has 25 years' experience in the energy sector having worked for both SSE plc and the Exploration and Production division of what is now Exxon Mobil. A founding member of the SSE Venture Capital Business, Stuart managed a number of the investments in early stage Cleantech companies and has represented SSEVC as Non-Executive Director on the board of many of those businesses. Stuart has significant offshore operational experience with Exxon Mobil, and is Managing Director and owner of The Launch Point Limited.

A graduate of Strathclyde University in Glasgow, Stuart has professional chartered status in Procurement, Logistic & Transport, and Quality.
